SPRING HILL HYDRO JETTING FOR A HOUSE LINE THAT WON’T STAY CLEAR

Spring Hill was laid out in 1967 and filled in over the decades after. The median house here was built in 1993, so most drain lines are plastic, and rotted pipe is rarely the culprit. More often it is grease thickening into a ring, wipes snagging on a joint, roots working into a seam, or silt carried in from a watered lawn.

Hydro jetting washes the inside wall of the pipe instead of drilling one hole through the blockage. Tim leads the crew that handles hydro jetting, sewer line jetting, kitchen line grease jetting and root removal, from US-19 on the west side to the Suncoast Parkway on the east.

A stopped tub or toilet is a cable job and we will say so on the phone. Prices are in the cost guide.

From the First Call to the Last Pass

ASK, LOCATE, JET, VERIFY

STEP 1

Call or Text

Name the fixture and say whether the house has a septic tank or county sewer. A rough range comes before any truck is sent.

STEP 2

Find the Cleanout

The cap in the yard or at the wall is the way in. A camera goes down it when the signs point to the main run.

STEP 3

Price, Then Jet

You watch the monitor and get the price on paper. The nozzle is chosen to suit the pipe material and what is blocking it.

STEP 4

Confirm It’s Clear

A second pass shows a clean wall and moving water. Cracks, sags or collapsed spots are reported to you, never covered over.

Jetter Versus Cable

WHEN THE JETTER OUTWORKS A SNAKE

A cable opens a channel through the clog. The film on the wall stays behind, and the opening shrinks again.

Grease Gets Stripped

Kitchen and laundry lines narrow under fat and soap scale. Jetting lifts that film off the pipe instead of piercing it once.

Water Moves the Debris Out

Pressure loosens the buildup and flow takes it to the cleanout, so it does not settle a few feet downstream.

Roots Come Out of the Line

A cutting nozzle shears the fringe at the joint. The tree stays, so a later camera check makes sense.

Footage Replaces Guessing

You see the pipe before the price and again once the work is done.

Tank or County Main?

SEPTIC OR SEWER IN SPRING HILL? WE STOP AT THE TANK

A lot of Spring Hill never received sewer pipe. The county utility director has put the septic count in the area draining toward Weeki Wachee Springs above 30,000, and the state’s 2023 inventory counts 44.4% of Hernando parcels as known septic against 40.2% as known sewer. The county’s service-area map shows large stretches of the original 1967 grid as water-only, so check by address instead of assuming.

A septic house runs from the building to a tank and then to a drainfield. We jet the line between the house and the tank when grease, roots or scale have choked it. We do not jet drainfields. That is company practice rather than a rule: the field is built to take water slowly, and the EPA cautions against overloading a field with water. Pumping the tank belongs to a licensed septic contractor.

On county sewer we jet the lateral out to the street connection. Hernando County Utilities can tell you where its responsibility starts at (352) 754-4037. Start with the septic or sewer guide, or read why jetting stops at the tank.

Everything on the Truck

FROM A STOPPED TUB TO A BACKED-UP HOUSE LINE

Hernando County averages 60.1 inches of rain a year, and the fast-draining sand sampled across south Spring Hill lets irrigation and rain soak straight down to the pipe. Roots follow that moisture to any loose joint, as this article on irrigated lawns explains.

SPRING HILL HYDRO JETTING FAQS

Not covered here? Call or text. You get an honest answer whether or not it becomes a job.

Standard residential hydro jetting runs $350–$650. Kitchen lines are $275–$450, and a main line with moderate roots is $400–$750. Adding a camera to a jetting visit is $150–$300. The Spring Hill cost guide shows what moves a price up or down.

Look for a round or square tank lid in the yard, or check the county utility bill for a sewer charge. Neighbors on the same street can differ. Our septic or sewer guide walks through the checks, and Hernando County Utilities can confirm by address.

No. On septic houses we clear the line between the house and the tank, where grease, roots and scale collect. The drainfield is built to take water slowly, so we leave it alone. Tank pumping and field repair go to a licensed septic contractor.

A cable is the quicker, cheaper fix for one stopped fixture, at $175–$325 for a branch line. When the same drain slows again within months, a film on the pipe wall is the likely cause and jetting removes it. Read jetting versus chemical cleaners first if a bottle of opener is tempting.

On brittle or cracked pipe, yes. Lots here were platted in 1967, so a few early houses may have older materials, while the typical 1993 house has plastic. Either way the camera goes first. If it shows fragile pipe we stop, say so, and suggest a plumber instead.

If sewage is coming up, Hernando County Utilities runs a 24-hour emergency line at (352) 754-4037 for its mains. If the county clears its main and your line still backs up, call us. This article sorts out who handles which pipe.

You see the footage and hear it plainly. We clean, jet, snake and inspect lines, but we do not dig, reline or replace them. A crushed, offset or collapsed section goes to a plumber or repair contractor, and the video is yours to hand to them.

Yes. The route covers Brooksville, Weeki Wachee, Hernando Beach, Timber Pines, Brookridge, Masaryktown and Ridge Manor, plus Hudson and Shady Hills across the Pasco line. Browse the service area pages, or text your address if your street is not listed.
